Skills USA

One goal of the construction program is to provide students with the opportunity to join Skills USA.  Among many other things, Skills USA will give them an opportunity to compete at a regional and state level in the trade area of their choice.  SkillsUSA’s mission is to empower its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens. At the heart of this mission are SkillsUSA’s core values: integrity, responsibility, citizenship, service and respect.

In the three short years we have been involved in Skills USA, we have had the following students place in competitions:
   

• 2011 – Plumbing, Devan Dixon, 3rd Place Region
• 2010 – Electrical, Antanio Heath, 3rd Place Region
• 2010 – Carpentry, Nicholas Mantooth, 3rd Place Region
• 2009 – Masonry, Carl Singleton, 1st Place Region
• 2009 – Masonry, Carl Singleton, 3rd Place State
