Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! My name is Erin Mobley and I teach 12th grade Lit, also known as Advanced Composition, here at BCHS. I am located in room 105. I wanted to take a few minutes and introduce myself to those of you who will be coming to campus two days a week AND for those of you who will be learning from home. I am so excited to get this year started, to get to know all of you and to help you learn and grow.

Parents, I want to assure you that this year, I will be teaching your child; you will not have to teach your child. Teaching is my job, no matter if we’re in the classroom face to face or if we are at home. I’ve got this. I will do everything I can to help your child and make sure they get through this class successfully. I have been teaching in Burke County for 10 years and I have been teaching seniors for the last 7. I started here during my student teaching with Mrs. Mallard and I just never left. I love Burke County. I love my job and I can’t wait to get back to it. I want you to know that I know this is hard for all of us. I am a teacher, but I am also a parent and I completely understand that there is a lot going on right now that is overwhelming for all of us, but please know that I am here and I am committed to helping your child and helping you manage this school year.

Students, I want you to know that I know this year is going to be different. There are things that are going to be new and possibly frustrating for you as we move through this semester, but we’re all in this together. I am going to make sure you are learning and growing as a student each week and that you have as much support as you need. As seniors, you are just a few months away from graduating and it’s my job to make sure that you’re ready for that, you’re ready for what comes after high school and you’re ready to change the world. It’s important for us to stick together, to show each other a lot of patience and a lot of grace, and know that we all want the same thing. I want you guys to graduate. I want you to earn your credits and to go out into the world and be great.

I will be available to you in multiple ways. The first and easiest way to reach me is through email. My email address is emobley@burke.k12.ga.us. I usually answer emails pretty quickly as I have time throughout the day. I also have a Remind account that sends out class updates through text messages. You can join that group by sending the message @emobley21 to the number 81010. Both parents and students are invited to join. I also have an account through Google Voice. This allows parents and students to get in touch with me throughout the day via text message or voicemail. If you’d like to send me a message or leave a voicemail, you can reach me at 706-250-2398.

Please be safe and make smart choices (like wearing a mask when possible, washing your hands regularly and staying home and away from other people as much as you can) during this time of crisis. See you soon!

Sincerely,

Erin Mobley
