PLEASE READ:
While our schools are closed due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, I am asking my students to complete the practice material below. These assignments are the same as the packet that was handed out as a hard copy on Monday, March 16, 2020, and are also available on Google Classroom. The directions are included.

Parents and students are welcome to contact me via email (emobley@burke.k12.ga.us) and/or through our class Remind101 (Text @emobley20 to 81010) during my office hours which will be 10AM-12PM Monday through Friday while we're out.

Please be safe and make smart choices (like washing your hands regularly and staying home and away from other people as much as possible) during this time of crisis. I want to see the sweet faces of all of my students when we return in a few weeks.

Welcome Parents!

As you may know, the Capstone/ Senior Project is a significant portion of your child's ELA class their senior year. Because this project carries so much weight in determining your child's eligibility for graduation, we want to ensure that you are fully aware of all that the project entails. As Capstone Project Coordinator, it is my job to keep you informed as we embark on our fourth year with the Capstone Project. On this page, you will find several sources that will be of use to you and your child.

Attached below is a brief slideshow that covers the basic requirements for the Capstone Project. This slideshow was created with parents in mind. It will give you an insight into the purpose of the project and the major components of the project, as well as some information on each of these components.

If you're looking for a more in-depth explanation of the project and why we do it, please turn your attention to the right-hand margin of this page. There you will find a link to the official BCHS Capstone Student Handbook for 2019-2020. Each child will receive this handbook digitally via Google Classroom. Additionally, there will be hard copies available in my classroom. The handbook contains several important documents, including a pacing guide which will give you all of the due dates throughout the entire project and all of the forms that will need to be signed and returned to me. Please take some time to read through this handbook so you are aware of all of the expectations of your child this year.

I hope you will take some time to sit down with your child and talk through this project with them. A project of this magnitude can be overwhelming and it makes my job a little easier if I have parents at home reminding their children of due dates and such. Also, please be aware that we will be offering after-school Capstone workshops each week, Monday thru Thursday from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to email me. My email is emobley@burke.k12.ga.us or you can call me at (706) 554-6691.

Sincerely,
Erin Mobley
