Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! My name is Erin Mobley and I teach Literature and Composition II here at BCHS. I am located in room 105. I wanted to take a few minutes and introduce myself. I have been teaching in Burke County for 12 years now and I have loved every minute of it. I have been married to my husband, Evan, for 10 years and we are the proud parents of 7-year-old twins, Layla and Grayson, who are in the second grade at Waynesboro Primary. I am so excited to get this year started, to get to know all of you, and to help you learn and grow.

Parents, I want to assure you that this year, I will be teaching your child; you will not have to teach your child. Teaching is my job, no matter if we’re in the classroom face to face or if we are learning from home. I’ve got this. I will do everything I can to help your child and make sure they get through this class successfully. As I stated earlier, I have been teaching in Burke County for 12 years and I have taught all grade levels during that time. I started here during my student teaching days, working with Mrs. Mallard and I just never left. I love Burke County; this is my home. I love my job and I can’t wait to get back in my classroom. I want you to know that I know this post-COVID way of life can be hard on all of us as we navigate many new norms. I am a teacher, but I am also a parent. I completely understand that there is a lot going on right now that can be overwhelming for all of us, but please know that I am here and I am committed to helping your child and helping you manage this school year.

Students, I want you to know that I know this year might be different than what you are used to. There are things that are going to be new and possibly frustrating for you as we move through this semester, but we’re all in this together. I am going to make sure you are learning and growing as a student each week and that you have as much support as you need. It is my job to make sure that you're ready for the next level of learning, you’re ready for what comes after high school, and you’re ready to change the world. It’s important for us to stick together, to show each other a lot of patience and a lot of grace, and know that we all want the same thing. I want you guys to pass this class. I want you to earn your credits and to go out into the world and be great.

I will be available to you in multiple ways. The first and easiest way to reach me is through email. My email address is [email protected]. I usually answer emails pretty quickly as I have time throughout the day. I also have a Remind account that sends out class updates through text messages. If you're in Literature and Composition II for my 1st or 3rd blocks, you can join that group by sending the message @mob10th to the number 81010. If you're in Literature and Composition II for my 4th block, you can join that group by sending the message @mobhon10 to the number 81010. Both parents and students are invited to join.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I'm more than happy to help!

Sincerely,

Erin Mobley

What does Mrs. Mobley expect of me?

**I expect you to BE PREPARED for class. Bring your device, your notebook, a writing utensil, and paper every day to class. (P.S. Being prepared also means making sure your device is charged and ready to go when you get to class.)

**I expect you to EXCEL ACADEMICALLY. Put forth your best effort in your work. Set goals for yourself and try each day to meet them.

**I expect you to ALWAYS BE ON TIME. I expect you to turn in your work on time. There  are deadlines to meet and there will be the following penalties if your work is not  turned in by the deadline: by our next class after the due date for a 10% deduction; by  the following day for a 20% deduction; anything after that is a zero.

**I expect you to RESPECT EVERYONE. This includes showing respect for me, your classmates, and yourself. To get respect, you must give respect. Respect must be earned.

**I expect you to SHOW RESPONSIBILITY for yourself and your work. YOU are  responsible for turning in all of your work. All work will be uploaded either into Google Classroom or the HMH Ed platform. I will not chase you down to turn in missing assignments.
