Introduction
William W. Harrell is entering his 1st year as an Assistant Football and Assistant Track Coach at Burke County High School.
Harrell most recently served as the Head Football Coach of Johnson (Gainesville) High School. Harrell had also served as a Head Track Coach for 2 years. He was awarded the 2020-2021 Greater Hall County FCA Male Coach of The Year.
Beforehand, Harrell served as the Head Football Coach at Hephzibah High School. During his 5-year tenure, Harrell amassed 22 wins, which is 4th All-Time in school history. His 19 wins from 2017 to 2019 are the most wins in school history over a 3-year period. Under Harrell’s leadership, the Rebels to the 1st Round of the Playoffs for the 2nd year in a row; only the 2nd time in school history over a 66-year span. In 2018, Hephzibah became the 4-AAAA Region Runner-Up for the first time since 2008; also only the 2nd time they hosted a Playoff game at Home (2008). Harrell was awarded the 2018 All-Area Coach of the Year and the 2018 Region 4-AA Coach of the Year, as well as the 2017 Region 3-AAAA Coach of the Year by The Augusta Chronicle.
Harrell previously served as an Assistant Coach at Macon County High School in 2014 under Larry Harold, where the team went 9-3, won the 4-AA Region title for the first time since 2007, and advanced to the 2nd Round of the playoffs; the first time since 2009.
Before coaching in Montezuma, Harrell served as an Assistant Coach at Hephzibah High School from 2009-2013 in various roles ranging from Junior Varsity Assistant to Defensive Coordinator. Harrell also had previous coaching experience in Butler and Portal High School.
William has 2 children; Aaron, 15, and Evan, 11.
