Hello and Welcome to my webpage!

My name is Julie Holloway, and I’m thrilled to be starting my first year at Burke County High School. I have the awesome opportunity to co-teach Environmental and Physical Science first semester. This is my 30th year in education!   Most of my teaching experience has been in middle school, teaching science and math.   I graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Business Education, and later earned a Master's degree in Middle Grades Education from GCSU with a focus on science and mathematics.  I have coached boys' & girls' soccer and girls' volleyball.

I’m a proud mom of two daughters: Curry, who’s 32 and works for Home Depot Corporate in Atlanta, and Ryleigh, who’s 24 and a flight attendant in beautiful Denver, CO.  When I'm not in the classroom, I love to spend time with family and friends, whether we're traveling or just having a relaxing day outdoors. I enjoy soaking up the sun on the beach, hanging out at a lake or river, and exploring the mountains. I’m also a big fan of Georgia football (Go Dawgs!) and soccer!  I have two pets, a dog named Baylor and a cat named Mochie.

My goal as a teacher is not just academic progress, but to foster self-advocacy, confidence, and life skills for independence. I believe effective teachers are lifelong learners who reflect on their practice and adapt to better meet student needs. This page will provide parents and students with convenient ways to contact me, along with links to important information, resources, and course content.   I’m excited to connect with you and look forward to a fantastic year ahead!

LEARNING SUPPORT & ENGAGEMENT
At BCHS, we believe in making learning clear and focused for all students.  That's why you'll see daily LEARNING TARGETS and SUCCESS CRITERIA posted in our classrooms and often referenced in student work.  This helps students understand the purpose of each lesson, provides clear targets, empowers ownership, and keeps parents informed.

ONE WAY PARENTS CAN HELP SUPPORT LEARNING AT HOME
Ask these two questions about each of your student's classes:
1 - What are you learning in class?
2 - How will you know you have learned it?  OR How will you know you are successful?
