Welcome to Healthcare Science Career Pathway!!
Teacher: Mrs. LaQuida Godbee
Welcome to Burke County High School – Healthcare Science Class!
I am so excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I’m looking forward to a successful and productive school year. My name is LaQuida Godbee and I am married to Ellis Godbee, Jr. and we have four children. This is my 8th year of teaching, but my 4th year at Burke County High School. I taught 5 years at A.R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School in their Health Science department teaching Introduction to Healthcare Science and a career pathway and I Love It!
I am a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Management and Valdosta State University with my Master of Education Degree and a Certified Medical Administrative Assistance (CMAA).
The standard curriculum areas and classes:
- Introduction to Healthcare Science - NOT teaching this semester.
- Essentials of Healthcare Science - 1st & 2nd semesters 2024/2025
- Health Information Management - Medical Office -1st semester, (End of Pathway/3rd level)
These health science classes are healthcare related dealing with: professionalism, communication, body systems (anatomy & physiology), prevention of diseases and treatments, medical terminology, careers and medical office, customer service etc....
Students are asked to bring the following supplies to school: A 3- ring notebook with paper, dividers, pencils, pens, erasers, 2-highlighters, and optional: 1 box of tissue and hand sanitizer for the class☺. Students are REQUIRED to WEAR SCRUBS on uniform day for professionalism and or clinics outside of the class.
My classwork policy is that MOST classwork will be completed in class unless completing a group project/lengthy assignment. This helps keep down work being lost, misplaced, and dishonesty (cheating). NO CELL PHoNES on CERTAIN DAYS in the class: Monday - Wednesdays!!! We will discuss Thursday - Fridays in class policy.
Attendance and participation is important as well as a good ATTITUDE & WORK ETHIC!! If you BRING and GIVE your BEST, you're OUTCOME will be a JOB WELL DONE!!
