In March, the BCHS Concert, BCHS Symphonic Band, and BCHS Wind Ensemble will host and participate in the Large Group Performance Evaluations (LGPE). 

What is LGPE? It is the equivalent of an end-of-course test in other subject areas (except that it happens mid-semester!) This year's event takes place on March 11, 12, & 13th at Burke County High School. We have 50+ bands registered to perform over this 3-day period. In preparation for this event, BCHS will hold a clinic on Tuesday, March 3rd. 

A panel of three judges evaluates the performances based on tone quality, intonation, style, and interpretation. The judges selected by members of GMEA District 10 typically represent accomplished university and high school band programs from around the country.

The bands are graded as an entire ensemble, not individually. Everyone has to play their part to the best of their ability.  The grading scale is as follows:

Concert Band performs on Wednesday, March 11th at 8:30 am. 

Symphonic Band performs Thursday, March 12th, at 8:30 am. 

Wind Ensemble performs Friday, March 13th at 8:30 am. 

Burke County Middle School Concert Bands will perform on:
Wednesday, March 11th, at 9:00 am and
Thursday, March 12th, at 9:00 am.
