As you may know, the Capstone/ Senior Project is a significant portion of your child's ELA class their senior. Because this project carries so much weight in determining your child's eligibility for graduation, we want to ensure that you are fully aware of all that the project entails. As Senior Project Coordinator, it is my job to keep you informed as we embark on our third year with the Capstone. On this page, you will find several sources that will be of use to you and your child.
Attached below is a brief slideshow that covers the basic requirements for the Capstone Project. This slideshow was created with parents in mind. It gives you insights into the purpose of the project and the major components of the project, as well as some information on each of these components.
If you're looking for a more in-depth explanation of the project and why we do it, please turn your attention to the right-hand margin of this page. There you will find a link to the official BCHS Capstone Student Handbook for 2017-2018. Each child will receive this handbook in the spring of their junior year. The handbook contains several important documents, including a pacing guide which will give you all of the due dates throughout the entire project and all of the forms that will need to be signed and returned to me. Please take some time to read through this handbook so you are aware of all of the expectations of your child this year.
I hope you will take some time to sit down with your child and talk through this project with them. A project of this magnitude can be overwhelming and it makes my job a little easier if I have parents at home reminding their children of due dates and such. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to email me. My email is email@example.com or you can call me at (706)554-6691.
