Key Standards:

Class Expectations (rules) and Procedures 

CLASS Expectations: All students are expected to follow the expectations of the classroom and BCHS Bearfacts. The expectations are posted in the room as a gentle reminder of how you are expected to behave in the classroom. In the event that you decide not to follow the expectations, corrective actions will be taken. Burke County High School Expectations will be enforced including the following: 

  • Be committed: Be prepared for class, everyday & stay focused during our time (Physically-included notebook, pen, pencil, paper & mentally – be ready to work and answer questions) 
  • Be successful: Students will come to class on time prepared and ready to learn. DO YOUR BEST, BE YOUR BEST @ ALL TIMES!! Remember, that you are your greatest competition and no one can stop YOU, except YOU
  • Be prepared for class when the bell rings. This means your pencils are sharpened, and you have all needed materials- notebook unless otherwise notified. This time is also to be used to copy and work on the work that will be on the board for you. Please bring your Chromebook each day to class with the charger and please have then charged for class. All assignments are expected to be completed in class and will be monitored by the teacher.
  • Be respectful and courteous: Remain at your desk during class. Throw all trash away before class begins. Walking around the room during class without permission is rude and disrespectful to both teacher and students. If you find yourself needing to tell another student something, jot it down so you can recall it but speak with them after class. And please do not throw objects across or in the classroom.
  • Be responsible and patient: Do not ask to leave the room. Get water and use the restroom before class.. Do not ask to use the restroom (especially during instruction.) Restrooms should be used during class breaks. Please adhere to the 15/15 classroom rule.
  • Be hardworking and cooperative: Pair work and Group work: You must participate when given pair work or group work. Give and ask for assistance. Be friendly and positive. Help each other. 
  • Be respectful and polite to all other students and the teacher. This means that you do not shout, use abusive language, or laugh at another individual in the room. Listen when someone else is talking or doing presentations. Please no cell phones during class unless you are in a GREEN ZONE.
  • Be polite: No eating or drinking allowed. Keep your space and the classroom clean. 
  • Be respectful: No grooming in class, to include, but not limited to applying makeup, doing hair (yours &/or friend), spraying perfumes/body sprays, applying nail polish, etc… 
  • Be committed: Do not sleep or lay your head down during class. If you find yourself getting sleepy please stand in the back of the classroom (or designated area), if you need reminding I will suggest standing. 
  • Be responsible: Cell phones or any devices are prohibited from being plugged into the computers, surge protectors or in the walls at any time. Please come to class with your Chromebooks charged and bring your charger.
  • Be respectful: No Horse Playing 
  • Be responsible: Be responsible for getting the work they miss due to absences. To get this work you need to SEE ME—the TEACHER as your assignment will be based on your needs not the needs of another student. 
  • Be hardworking: Cheating will NOT be tolerated on any assignments in this class!!! This includes copying other students’ work, plagiarism, forgery, etc.
  • Be hardworking: Participation in class discussions will enhance all students’ learning experiences. 
  • Be respectful: Cell phones, earbuds and any other personal items are prohibited in class at any time during a RED Zone. Class is always a RED Zone unless noted by the teacher that it is a GREEN Zone. Cell phones and earbuds and etc. should be off , removed and put away before entering class. 
  • Be smart: Follow all school rules. If you don’t break the rules, you will not have to worry about me enforcing the interventions. 
  • Be responsible: No blankets in class. Bring a jacket for warmth.
