Boyd, Maurice » Hello!

Hello!

Welcome to Introduction to Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security!!!

This course will give you an engaging and informative glimpse into the different areas of law and public safety. By the culmination, you will gain insight into the different aspects, theories, and the application of law and public safety. These tools will help you when you pursue a career in law enforcement and criminal justice. We will explore the relevant laws and procedures pertaining to law enforcement including basic criminal and constitutional law, policing rules and investigations, and sentencing & correctional issues.

My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration, a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice/Public Administration, and an Educational Specialist, Curriculum, and Instructions. My hobbies are watching sports and going on vacations to spend time with my family. I also like to follow the best football team in America, the Dallas Cowboys!

With criminal justice experience under my belt, I anticipate that I will contribute to helping students meet their curriculum goals, and provide them with a more holistic perception of this form of workforce pathway. I believe in teaching information while instilling life lessons. By building good and honest relationships with students, a teacher is able to motivate students to have a better bond with learning. I believe this method of teaching will help students in learning through both conventional means and modern ways.

The Law and Public Safety Pathway completer achieved an 86% and 85% passing rate in the End-of-Pathway Assessment for 2021 and 2022, respectively. We have also sent successful representatives to the State and National SkillsUSA Competitions. For the Human Services Career Pathway, we have placed 1st in the 2019 and 2022 State Competitions, as well as raking in 13th and 8th place in the 2019 and 2022 SkillsUSA National Competitions. The Law and Public Safety Display Team finished 3rd place in 2021 as well. Lastly, the High-Risk Team and Tactical Teams also won 3rd Place in the Georgia SkillsUSA Competitions!

These achievements are the result of the program, students, teachers, and parents working together. Working collectively to achieve a common goal, we can ensure the success of our students in their chosen career pathways. Students are usually successful in their career endeavors when they receive support from a multitude of fronts. It drives them to come to class prepared to work and learn, excited about what school has to offer! I'm looking forward to the 2022-2023 school year and the opportunity to bring the contents of Introduction to Criminal Justice to life.

I am enthusiastic to play my part in shaping the students as they achieve their goal(s), eager to interact and learn from each of you as well. I hope you find the course useful, fun, and engaging. I have an “open email” policy, so please feel free to reach out to me when you need assistance. I am here to help the students succeed!

Sincerely,
