Physical Science ( 1st Semester) (Section 3)

Course Description

This course serves as a general introduction to physics and chemistry.  Scientific method, metric conversions, laboratory safety, and measurement are stressed.  First semester is based on chemical concepts such as atomic structure, element recognition, chemical formula and equation writing, acid-base chemistry and organic chemistry.  Second semester is structured around physics concepts such as motion, energy, heat, mechanics, light, color and energy.  Student will use problem-solving skills as related to science.  The students will participate in hands on activities and laboratory settings.  The skills involved in completing scientific studies will be taught.  A science project or research paper is required.  This is an EOCT course.

The material in this course is extensively included on the Georgia Milestone Exam.  This exam will be given the week of December 4, 2017 and the week of May 7, 2018 (my best guess)
