Parent Engagement/Adult ESOL Class

Parent Nights

These nights are a time for the district to disseminate information from the district with the help of our district translator.  It is also a time to gain feedback from our parents on how we can serve them better.

We enjoy door prizes, a meal, and fellowship in an effort to convey to our parents our dedication to them and their children as well as hopefully make them comfortable to return and be an active part of our schools.

Adult English Classes

Burke County Supports Students and Families Who Speak English As A Second Language

Adult English Classes are offered the first Wednesday of every month from 5:00-6:30 at Burke County High School in room 109.

During these classes, there will be a time for individual conferencing and scheduling of additional help.

Classes are free and children are welcomed to attend.

Classes prepare adults to better function in the community as workers, parents, and citizens.
Whether adults are just beginning to learn English, need to improve their conversational skills,
or practice their existing English skills; we are able to help.

Classes serve not only as a place to learn English, but also to disseminate information to
parents in their own language about events occurring in our school system and to aid
them in communication with their child’s teachers.
