Description
This Spanish I class is taught by Ms. Allyson Vaughan during 7th period. For all other Spanish I classes, please contact Ms. Nidia Oglesby
 
In this course, students will learn the basics of the Spanish language such as: Introductory Phrases in Spanish, Greetings, Farewells, Class/School Items,Conjugation of Verbs in the Present Tense, Body parts, Colors, Basic Numbers, etc. Students will also learn about the cultural norms and perspectives of different Spanish-speaking countries such as Mexico, Spain, Dominican Republic, Cuba, etc.

The students learned how to express where they are going or use the simple future tense with the verb "ir. The students started off with a bell ringer by unscrambling the vocabulary words from yesterday. Then, the students took notes over the verb "ir". Lastly the students practiced with a worksheet and powerpoint exercise.

Students were given writing prompts about various topics.
 
Writing prompt #1 - Introduce yourself in Spanish and another person.
Writing prompt #2 - Students watched a cultural powerpoint about the Spanish people and immigration. Reflect and give your thoughts on immigration
 
Writing prompts must be done in a composition book that stays in class.

Las Telenovelas
Students watched a telenovela (Spanish-soap opera) in Spanish without subtitles. They then had to write a paragraph about what they think happened during the video.
 
Spanish II students watched 2 videos over the course of 2 days. They also used the Powerpoint (below) to review Level I adjectives.
Spanish I students only watched one video.
 
Alternative Assignment: Using the Powerpoint listed below, try to choose the correct adjective to the best of your ability.
